Santa Fe: America’s Best Small City

In July 2014, readers of Condé Nast Traveler voted Santa Fe as the best small city in the United States. With a rating of 81.2, Santa Fe edged out such scenic California coastal communities as Carmel-by-the-Sea, Napa and Santa Barbara.

Condé Nast attributes Santa Fe’s popularity to its multi-cultural blending of Native American, Spanish and Mexican influences. These influences are very much alive in the community today. They are dynamic, evolving, and contribute to the community in ways that preserve this heritage as well as sometimes defy expectation. The Institute of American Indian Art, for example, is helping to pioneer the immersive digital dome medium with its Digital Kiva Theater. It is this vitality and the sense of place it bestows on Santa Fe that attracts many tourists, residents and business buyers.
